Unit 1- Relationships between quantities and expressions
August 1 This year is off to a great start. Students found their seat by doing a "Find My Seat" activity using math clues. They also completed a worksheet letting me know what they know about the different sets of numbers. We started going over our class expectations.
August 2 We continued to go over our class expectations and then reviewed the set of real numbers.
August 3 We spent time today reviewing exponent laws. Homework is EVEN problems on both sides of the simplifying exponents worksheet.
August 4 We finished rational vs irrational card sort. Interpreted language of math expression. Homework is 5th period write words for operations on back of worksheet.
August 5 Students took the Math Inventory test on the computer and will complete on Monday, if needed. Homework is to complete Math language worksheets.
August 8 Students continued the Math Inventory test on the computer. We went over homework and reviewed prime factorization. No homework.
August 9 We simplified radicals. Homework is worksheet on simplifying radicals- the evens.
August 10 We simplified radical expressions. Homework is worksheet on simplifying radical expressions- the odds.
August 11 Adding and subtracting radicals. Homework is to complete 1-8 on worksheet.
August 12 Multiply radicals. Completed work in class. No homework.
August 15 Divide radicals. Homework is to complete worksheet of 15 problems which was started in class on dividing radicals. Quiz will be on Friday.
August 16 Students put homework problems on the board and told how they worked them. We also worked on word problems with radicals. We started in class investigation of the sum and product of rational and irrationals, and that worksheet is to be completed for homework.
August 17 Reviewed adding and subtracting radicals with mad libs around the room problems.
August 18 Reviewed rational and irrational sum and product and multiplying and dividing radicals to ready for quiz tomorrow. Complete study guide and compare your answers with given answers.
August 19 Took quiz 1 of unit 1 on operations with radicals and rational and irrationals.
August 22 Introduced polynomials and learned to add and subtract polynomials. Homework is to complete 12 problem worksheet adding and subtracting polynomials that was started on in class.
August 23 Introduced multiplying monomial times a polynomial and binomial times a binomial. Use of FOIL or box method. Homework is # 1-4,6 on worksheet.
August 24 Continued multiplying polynomials. Homework is # 5, 7-12 on the worksheet from last night which was started in class..
August 25 Polynomial word problems
August 26 Around the room polynomial word problems. Quiz Tuesday
August 29 Review for Test on Wednesday. Changing quiz Tuesday to a Test on Wednesday. Students reviewed all period today and will complete review sheet for homework tonight. We will go over review sheet tomorrow and then have the test on Wednesday.
August 30 Went over review sheet and answered any questions to be ready for test tomorrow. Answers for worksheet here Test tomorrow over radicals, polynomials, and rational and irrational numbers.
August 31 Took test on radicals, polynomials, rational, and irrational numbers- Unit 1A Test. Homework is watch video on accuracy and precision and complete worksheet given in class.
September 1 Introduced conversion of units with notes and examples. Homework is worksheet the odd problems.
September 2 Continued working with dimensional analysis and worked with multiple conversions. 8 question Worksheet was started in class and homework is to finish.
